Here’s a warmer, more community-centered version for Symbiosis Academy’s 4th–5th Grade ELA Teacher opening:
4th–5th Grade ELA Teacher
Symbiosis Academy
At Symbiosis Academy, we believe that learning should be joyful, personal, and deeply connected to the world around us. We’re a small, alternative school where students are known, heard, and encouraged to grow not just academically, but as whole people.
We’re looking for a caring and creative ELA teacher to work with a small group of 4th and 5th graders. Our ideal teammate loves books and words, can turn a grammar lesson into something fun, and knows how to meet students where they are—whether they’re struggling to find confidence in reading or racing ahead into their next favorite novel.
What you’ll do:
- Teach reading, writing, speaking, and listening in ways that make students want to dig deeper.
- Choose engaging novels, nonfiction, poetry, and student-led reading projects.
- Create lessons that connect to real life and invite curiosity.
- Adapt your teaching to fit the needs of each student (small groups make this possible!).
- Join in cross-curricular projects with other teachers—sometimes learning spills out of the ELA block into science, art, or even cooking.
- Keep parents and guardians in the loop about how their child is doing, both academically and socially.
What we’re looking for:
- Someone who values relationships as much as academics.
- A teacher with strong ELA knowledge and a love for upper elementary students.
- Experience with diverse learners and flexible teaching approaches.
- A creative spirit who’s comfortable in a nontraditional school environment.
What you’ll get:
- Small class sizes and the freedom to teach in ways that work.
- A supportive, collaborative team that values kindness and humor.
- A chance to be part of a school where students actually want to come in each day.
If this sounds like the right fit, send your resume and a short note about why you’d like to join us to info@symbiosislearningcenter.com. We can’t wait to meet you!
