LED BY INSTRUCTORS WITH OVER 17 YEARS OF EXPERIENCE WORKING IN HIGHER EDUCATION, THIS WORKSHOP WILL GIVE COLLEGE-BOUND STUDENTS AN INSIDE LOOK AT:

  • What should be done before school starts? Course selection, textbooks, school supplies, accommodation request(s), roommate outreach, submitting health forms and other important documentation, student handbook, how to navigate the college website, how often to check emails (every day!), top 10 list of must-do’s for a successful start to college
  • What do I need to know during the first two weeks? What happens at orientation? Where are my classrooms? Can I change my classes? What is a Resident Assistant? Dorm life vs. commuter life, part-time vs. full-time, staying safe
  • How/when/why/where do I access my campus resources? Academic Support, Residence Life, Counseling Office, Clubs and Organizations, Registrar’s Office, Career Services, Library, Title IX, Accessibility, Office of Social Justice and Activism, Public Safety, Health Services, Student Financial Services, IT, Spiritual Life, Athletics, Office of Student Conduct
  • What are my course requirements & major exploration? – Who is my advisor? How can my advisor help me? How do I communicate with my professors?  What is a Dean? What does the Registrar do? Part-time vs. full-time, getting to know instructors, why you need to take general education courses such as History and Math
